Humanoid Robot Mechanisms for Responsive Mobility
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we developed two noble mechanisms for improving the motions of humanoid robots. The double spherical hip joint provides the equivalent function of waist joints without actually adding them. The backlush clutch is a new drive mechanism for knee joints of humanoid robots, which enables switching between drive and free modes. We developed a humanoid robot equipped with these two mechanisms.

Flexible Foot/Ankle Based on PKM with Force/Torque Sensor for Humanoid Robot
This paper describes the development of a novel humanoid robot foot/ankle based on an orientation Parallel Kinematic Mechanism for intelligent and flexible control. With three identical Universal-Prismatic-Spherical prismatic-actuated limbs and a central Universal-Revolute passive limb, the PKM can perform three degrees of freedom rotation motions. In order to enable the humanoid robot safely t...
متن کاملContact Phase Invariant Control for Humanoid Robot Based on Variable Impedant Inverted Pendulum Model
Being expected as the utilities in the future, humanoid robots should be given much higher mobility. A seamless transition between contact and aerial phase is essential to behave robustly against disturbance in the real environment, and to expand the range of their activities and perform a variety of motion. Manipulation of both the contact condition and the external force is the key issue to e...
متن کاملBiologically Inspired Locomotion Strategies: Novel Ground Mobile Robots at RoMeLa
This paper presents some of the ground mobile robots under development at the Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory (RoMeLa) at Virginia Tech that use biologically inspired novel locomotion strategies. By studying nature's models and then imitating or taking inspiration from these designs and processes, we apply and implement new ways for mobile robots to move. Unlike most ground mobile robots tha...
متن کاملUsing the Matrix Method to Compute the Degrees of Freedom of Mechanisms
In this paper, some definitions and traditional formulas for calculating the mobility of mechanisms are represented, e.g. Grubler formula, Somov - Malyshev formula, and Buchsbaum - Freudenstei. It is discussed that there are certain cases in which they are too ambiguous and incorrect to use. However, a matrix method is suggested based on the rank of the Jacobian of the mechanism and its applica...
متن کاملA Bio-Robotic Toe & Foot & Heel Model of a Biped Robot for More Natural Walking: Foot Mechanism & Gait Pattern
Humans possess a complex physical structure and can perform difficult movement tasks. Over the past few decades, many researchers around the world have concentrated on achieving human-like artificial mobility or dexterity either on humanoid robots or during the implementation of robotic assistive devices. In particular, humanoid-type robots mainly focused on hands to understand the mechanical a...
